Seasonal Camping Rules
Welcome to our 2006 Tottenham Conservation Area Seasonal Campers. In order to make your stay more enjoyable for yourself and others, please follow the Conservation Authority Rules and Regulations. These terms are put in place to help ensure the safety and enjoyment of all users of the Tottenham Conservation Area. Your co-operation is appreciated.
Be a courteous, responsible camper – respect your neighbour ... have fun!
- To be considered a seasonal camper, the seasonal fee must be paid in full. No person shall be permitted to use the campsite until this fee has been paid in full and the required seasonal contract has been signed.
- No campsite may be occupied prior to May 19, 2006. All 2006 seasonal camping permits expire on October 9, 2006. Campsites are to be vacated on this date. There is no winter storage available for trailers.
- This camping permit is not assignable or transferable to any other person by the seasonal camper listed above.
- Any person(s) involved in a physical or verbally abusive altercation will be evicted immediately. The police will be notified and a report filed. The decision of the park supervisor is final in these matters.
- Seasonal campers situated in sites #1 - #8 (inclusive will be required to move to an alternate serviced site on or before june 16, 2006 for the bluegrass festival which takes place on june 23, 24 and 25, 2006. All other Seasonal Campers agree to move, if requested, to an alternate serviced site during the 2006 Bluegrass Festival. Seasonal campers must abide by Bluegrass Rules and Regulations for the duration of the Festival.
ALCOHOL RESTRICTIONS:
- An alcohol ban is in effect Victoria Day Weekend, Canada Day, August Civic Day Weekend and Labour Day Weekend.
- Other than the above listed days of complete alcohol ban, an alcohol restriction is in effect at all other times. The possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages is restricted to your camp site only.
- No bottles of beer or glasses with alcoholic beverages can be carried around the park or to the beach and playground areas.
CAMPFIRES:
- Firewood may be brought onto premises, but must be neatly stored in a pile no larger than 2.5 meters long by 1 meter high by .5 meters deep. No wood of any kind to be taken from any bush or from trees on Tottenham Conservation Area property.
- Recreational campfires are permitted only in the designated fire pit ring. No fires shall be of such size as to constitute a danger to the public. Do not burn garbage, plastics or other toxic materials.
- Campfires shall:
- be under the supervision of a person at least 18 years of age;
- be maintained in a safe and orderly manner and only firewood and reasonable starting materials shall be used;
- be completely extinguished after use; and
- be prohibited if the fire hazard is significant in the opinion of the Park Supervisor, whose decision in all matters related to campfires is final.
PETS
- No more than one (1) pet per camp site unless approved by the Park Supervisor.
- All pets must be kept on a leash not exceeding two (2) meters in length at all times.
- Absolutely no pets are allowed in the washrooms, the beach area water, the beach sand area, sand at the playground areas or beach volleyball area.
- No pet shall be left unattended or allowed to disturb other patrons. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet and you are required to carry a bag to clean up after your pet at all times as per New Tecumseth By-law #93-131.
- A child who cannot control or clean up after the pet should not be walking the pet alone.
- Pets must have proof of annual inoculations.
- Only usual domestic pets (cats, dogs, caged birds) may be kept on campsite. No pet shall be allowed on the site that constitutes a potential danger to any member of the public. If a problem is not rectified, the pet will be banned from the park. The decision and opinion of the Park Supervisor is final.
REFUSE/GARBAGE/RECYCLING
- Any trailer not having a gray water holding tank(s) is required to purchase and connect a portable commercial tank.
- Absolutely no dumping of sewage or gray water on grounds. The designated dumping station must be used.
- No dumping of any liquids in the washroom buildings or porta-potties. A dumping station is provided for your convenience. All gray water and sewage must be properly disposed of at the dumping station and may not be discharged anywhere else within the Conservation Area.
- Garbage must be bagged and deposited in the bins provided. The bins provided are for campground garbage only. Do not bring your garbage from home. Large household items are not to be brought into the campgrounds nor left at the garbage bins.
- Please use the recycling boxes provided and sort your recycling accordingly.
VEHICLES
- A maximum of two vehicles are permitted per site at any time. All others must park in the parking lot. No parking is permitted on the roadways at any time. Park at your own site and leave room for visitors to park in the parking lot.
- The rules of the roads also apply in the park for vehicles and bicycles. No biking after dark. Only licensed drivers are permitted to operate a motorized vehicle. Drive slowly and carefully on all park roads. Maximum Speed within the park is 20 km/h.
WATER SYSTEM
- The Park water system is limited. Please conserve water. The water is received from the Town and is tested weekly.
SITES/TRAILERS/TENTS/VEHICLES
- Camp site inspections will be conducted throughout the season.
- All sites must be kept neat, orderly and clutter free. Only outdoor furnishings are permitted.
- No freezers, refrigerators or any other appliance except a propane or charcoal fueled barbecue shall be used or stored outside of a trailer unit.
GENERAL
- Removal or damage to any tree, shrubs, fence, and equipment, park material or items within the Conservation Area is not permitted and damages will be paid by the camper.
- Quiet time is between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. No excessive noise at any time, or engaging in activities which disturb other campers and park neighbours. Amplified speakers are prohibited.
- All children and teenagers must return to their sites (or parents) at 11:00 p.m. It is the responsibility of the parent to enforce this not park staff. Failure to comply will result in further action.
- The registered camper is responsible for their children and other friends or relatives visiting their campsite and anywhere within the park property; the actions or violations by these people are the responsibility of the registered camper and may lead to the cancellation of your camping privileges. Visitors must park in the parking lot and not at the roadway in front of your camp site.
- No child under the age of 18 is permitted to stay overnight unaccompanied by an adult. Use of parents’ seasonal camp site by young adults is not permitted without the Supervisor’s prior approval. No group parties are permitted.
- The Tottenham Conservation Area and staff assumes no liability whatsoever for trailers or their contents while situated at the Tottenham Conservation Area. The trailer owner and/or permit holder will be solely responsible for any type of damage whatsoever while at the Tottenham Conservation Area (i.e. Wind, rain, snow, malicious damages etc.)
- All campsites are subject to the regulations made under the Conservation Authority Act.
- The Tottenham Conservation Area will not tolerate physical or verbal abuse from any individual(s); this will lead to immediate evictions with assistance from the police. No refunds will be issued.
